Free Stuff to do in Houston this weekend & this upcoming week 3/9/13-3/15/13

Spring break kicks off at Discovery Green on Saturday at 10am with the Funomenal Family Festival . Enjoy music, rides, crafts and character appearances. Toddlers can compete in the baby Olympics with events like Look Who's Walking, Daddy's Little Princess and Mommy's Little Sport. Medals will be awarded and registration begins at 11am.

Over at Market Square Park, enjoy an evening of music with Cello's Fury . The unusual rock band will perform at 8pm Saturday as part of the monthly Concerts on the Square. Cello Fury is a rarity in the music world with three classically trained cellists and a rock drummer performing high-energy original music.

Take the kids out to enjoy the country life over at Blessington Farms on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday for free hay rides, slides and other outdoor activities will keep the kids entertained all day. Go to blessingtonfarms.com for more information including operating hours and directions.

Over at the Art Car Museum in the Heights , get an up-close look and explore the unusual cars like The Roach and The Armadillo. Admission is always free but please call ahead for large groups. The museum is open Wednesday though Sunday from 11am-6pm.

It's Bring Your Own Friends Day at IKEA Houston this Saturday from 9am-3pm. This is a national in-store event that offers fans and friends special perks, activities and giveaways. There will be free in-store life improvement store seminars that include crafting and growing your own herbs.

And finally if you and your family are planning a 'staycation' for spring break this year, many of Houston's museums offer free admission on Thursday. They include the Health Museum from 2pm to close, the Children's Museum of Houston from 5pm to close, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is free all day.
